Chips Ahoy!: Coastal Pet Rescue does microchipping for ten bucks

microchipping.jpgI didn't know that there was cheap microchipping until just recently when I volunteered to take pictures for Coastal Pet Rescue to put on their website.  It can cost over a hundred dollars to have your dog chipped by the vet.  At the CPR's clinic, it costs ten bucks!

You chip your dog, so that if he or she gets lost, a vet or a shelter will be able to identify him or her and contact you.  This makes the chance of finding your lost pet much more and the chance of him or her being put down, because you didn't get there in time, much less.  Here, in the South, that's the big deal, because most of the shelters are kill shelters.

So, if you're thinking about getting your animal chipped, look in your area for an organization that may be able to get you a discount.  You can always ask your vet about groups that can help you out.  AND if you are in the position of being able to help out an organization like Coastal Pet Rescue, they will be glad when you do.  Of course, you will be glad, too, for all the regular reasons.

Check out Coastal Pet Rescue's website and learn about microchipping, pet rescue, placement assistance, trap-neuter-return program for feral cats, and rescue transports. You can also look at my pictures on flickr.com.
