WOW

Sorry bloggers, I have failed to blog on a Friday, again. This time it was my back playing up. I know that you don’t use your back to write with, but mine was painful and I had to dash home to apply a hot waterbottle (I’ve got one with me now).

So..apologies for delay with my very interesting blog about Walk on the Wildside (WOW). Sarah, from the project, came to talk to our members at Friday’s Breakfast Morning. She was after their views on places to visit and activities that they would like to take part in.

WOW is funded by Natural England’s “Access to Nature” programme, part of the Big Lottery Fund’s Changing Spaces programme. The project is being delivered by a partnership of 3 organisations, the Castle Cavendish Foundation, Groundwork Greater Nottingham and Wild Things. WOW aims to give community groups in Radford and Hyson Green the opportunity to visit local nature areas, meet new people, take part in nature based activities and learn new skills.

We had a very lively discsussion on places to go and activities to do. A few people said that they hadn’t been cycling since they were children and would love the chance to go again, Attenborough Nature Reserve also seemed a popular place to visit with most people.

Sarah is after volunteers to help lead the trips, help with the website and help with the organisation of the trips themselves. We will be hoping to provide a few volunteers from the Skills Exchange. WOW have joined so our members will be able to earn Time Credits for the volunteering time they give.
